Abstract
Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's Disease can be cured if they are treate d as autoimmune diseases with a special understanding of the personali ty conflicts in the patient. The author hypothesizes that all autoimmu ne diseases are characterized by a high normal amount of the aggressiv e instinctual drives and ambivalence about their realization. Each pat ient's personality causes the ambivalence to be somaticized into speci fic autoimmune bodies that aggressively are overproduced and then atta ck specific tissues. Hypnosis helps in gaining insight, reinforcing in terpretations, handling stress, visualizing normal intestinal areas, a nd controlling of the autoimmune antibodies to the normal level. This paper deals specifically with these 2 diseases.
