The angular and velocity distributions of the desorbing product CO2 we
re measured in the CO oxidation on Pt(113)=(s)2(111) x (001) by means
of angle-resolved thermal desorption combined with cross-correlation t
ime of flight techniques. The CO2 desorption is sharply collimated eit
her along the (001) step normal or the (111) terrace normal depending
on the reactant coverage, The translational temperature of CO2 desorbi
ng in these specific directions reveals a significant variation rangin
g from 1350 to 1120 K with the coverages. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.
