Abstract
Ten women seen for infertility evaluation consented to a comparative s tudy of the uterine cavity with two-dimensional transvaginal sonograph y (2D-TVS), three-dimensional ultrasound (3D-US), and three-dimensiona l hysterosonography (3D-HSSG), that is, 3D-US following endometrial di stention with a saline solution. The objective of the study was to det ermine whether there were differences in endometrial sonolucency or in the results of endometrial thickness measurements among the three met hods. The techniques were found to be equivalent for determination of endometrial thickness. However, 3D-HSSG proved to be superior to 2D-TV S and 3D-US visualization and evaluation of the endometrium and myomet rium.
