Necrobiotic xanthogranuloma is a rare, generalized dermatosis occurrin
g in association with paraproteinaemia. We report on the clinical, his
tological, immunohistochemical and electron microscopic findings in a
70-year-old woman affected by IgG gammopathy with lambda type immunogl
obulins, hyperviscosity syndrome and necrobiotic xanthogranuloma. The
rarity of the association of the systemic disorders reported, together
with the noticeable extension of the skin lesions observed, are highl
ighted.
