Et. Verhoef et al., THE SOCIAL FEASIBILITY OF ROAD PRICING - A CASE-STUDY FOR THE RANDSTAD AREA, Journal of transport economics and policy, 31(3), 1997, pp. 255
Road pricing is a highly controversial topic. This paper studies the l
imited social feasibility of road pricing from an empirical perspectiv
e, on the basis of a large survey among morning peak road users in the
Dutch Randstad area. A model is used to investigate how opinion on ro
ad pricing varies with socio-economic and trip-related variables and o
ther factors. The issue of tax revenue allocation and its impact on th
e social feasibility of road pricing is discussed.
