Abstract
Baroreflex sensitivity is impaired in patients with systemic hypertens ion. The persistence of abnormal baroreflex sensitivity despite adequa te blood pressure control may be one of the reasons why the effect of antihypertensive therapy on coronary artery disease mortality has been less than expected on the basis of the achieved blood pressure levels .
