This year, the international key event on chemical engineering, enviro
nmental protection and biotechnology ACHEMA took place for the 25th ti
me. High-quality presentations from all over the world make ACHEMA a c
ompulsory exercise for anyone interested in the progress achieved in t
he chemical transformation industry, its supporting industries and in
the field of technical sciences in general. ACHEMA's success has ever
since been connected with the idea of combining conference and technic
al exhibition, the latter being a forum for companies and research ins
titutions to present their up-to-date products. The accompanying congr
ess included about 700 oral presentations, numerous workshops and spec
ial sessions which served to discuss technical know-how recent develop
ments and new scientific findings. While the economic growth was still
received with moderate enthusiasm by the plant engineering sector, ne
at optimism was expressed by the innovative technologies.
