Three-dimensional (3-D) or holographic information extracted by two-di
mensional active optical heterodyne scanning has been demonstrated rec
ently. The technique is called optical scanning holography. To reconst
ruct the obtainable 3-D holographic information, digital techniques ha
ve been used and demonstrated. For real-time applications, we need to
investigate spatial-light-modulator-based systems. In this paper, we f
irst briefly review optical scanning holography, and then present expe
rimental results of 3-D image reconstruction using an electron-beam-ad
dressed spatial light modulator.
