Abstract
Poly(vinyl chloride) was dehydrochlorinated in alkali solution and the n grafted with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) using benzoyl peroxi de as an initiator under a nitrogen atmosphere. The solubility of PVC- g-HEMA has been successfully achieved through the addition of poly(HEM A). The curing of the mixture of PVC-g-HEMA and poly(HEMA) effected th rough a blocked diisocyanate was investigated. The investigation invol ved the synthesis of three kinds of blocked diisocyanates and the effe cts of the grafting percentage, curing time, curing temperature and ca talyst. A desired flexible and golden color film can be obtained by co ntrolling the quantity of the curing agent. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
