Rc. Moore et al., SOLUBILITY OF POTASSIUM CARBONATE IN WATER BETWEEN 384 AND 529 K MEASURED USING THE SYNTHETIC METHOD, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 42(6), 1997, pp. 1078-1081
The solubility of potassium carbonate in water at temperatures from 38
4 to 529 K is reported at the saturation vapor pressure of the solutio
ns. Measurements were made using a visually-accessible apparatus consi
sting of a platinum cell with sapphire windows and gold seals. The res
ults indicate that potassium carbonate remains prograde-soluble up to
529 K. At approximately 427 K the hydrate form of the solid changes as
indicated by visual observation of the solid and a change in the solu
bility behavior. Solubilities determined at lower temperatures have be
en compared with literature data and are in good agreement.
