J. Canosa et al., DENSITIES, REFRACTIVE-INDEXES, AND DERIVED EXCESS PROPERTIES OF THE SYSTEM METHYL ACETATE PLUS METHANOL PLUS 2-BUTANOL AT 298.15 K, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 42(6), 1997, pp. 1121-1125
This work reports the experimental results of the densities and refrac
tive indices of the ternary system methyl acetate + methanol + 2-butan
ol and the corresponding binary systems methyl acetate + a-butanol and
methanol + a-butanol at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. A vibratin
g tube digital densimeter and a refractometer of synthetic sapphire pr
ism (sodium D wavelength) were used, the whole mole fraction range bei
ng covered. Excess molar volumes and changes of refractive index on mi
xing were determined from experimental data, and different estimation
equations that are dependent of binary contributions were analyzed. Va
riable-degree polynomials have been fitted to the results. Values of d
ensities and refractive indices are evaluated and compared by differen
t methods. Excess partial molar volumes and those corresponding to the
infinite dilution condition are also calculated.
