Abstract
Isotopically labeled amino acids are important for protein structure d etermination and in biosynthetic studies. We report now on the synthes is of (2S,3S)-4,4,4-[H-2(3)] valine (9) using a short, versatile, enzy me-free procedure. The deuterium label is introduced via an organocupr ate opening of a chiral epoxide. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
