SPRAY CONTROL

The aim of this paper is to introduce the original concept of spray co ntrol. Owing to environmental motivations we have developed the concep t of spreadability (see for example EI Jai and Kassara 1994, 1996). In this paper we investigate the associated control theory for linear di stributed systems. The spray control problem concerns the determinatio n of controls which generate the spreadability of the system. For that purpose, we propose a first approach leading to an adaptive spray con trol based on regional control results and a second approach driven fr om linear quadratic control theory. Simulation results illustrate the second approach and show that convenient controls can transform a non- spreadable system into a spreadable one.
