Abstract
In the work strength and microstructure of joints made from hot presse d silicon nitride (HPSN) and titanium alloy TiAl6Mo3Cr2FeSi (VT3-1) is investigated and evaluated. Active Ag-Cu-Ti based brazing alloys were chosen for preparation of the joints. The joints were prepared with i nterlayers of W, Mo, and austenitic stainless steel 17 246 (18Cr-8Ni), or without the interlayer. The effect of the interlayer on shear stre ngth of joints and morphology of fractured surfaces was investigated. The highest average shear strength similar to 175 MPa was achieved whe n an interlayer made of stainless steel was used. The microstructure o f the joints was observed by SEM and the distribution of elements in t he vicinity of the joint interfaces was analysed by EDS method.
