H. Stumpf et K. Schulte, QUIKTEMP - A NEW SHORT-CYCLE-TIME MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITES MADE FROM LOW-COST TEXTILE PREFORMS, Journal of composites technology & research, 19(4), 1997, pp. 222-227
Weft-inserted warp-knitting can be applied to produce textile composit
e preforms comprising both reinforcement fibers and thermoplastic matr
ix ribbons at comparatively low cost. A newly developed technique (den
oted QUIKTEMP) for fast processing of molded parts is presented. As a
special feature, the concept allows for the material staying with one
mold throughout the process, while the cycle time is still short. Henc
e, pressure can be applied continuously and without additional cost du
e to prolonged cycle times.
