This review covers progress made over the past year in the area of end
oscopic therapy for gastrointestinal hemorrhage including peptic ulcer
bleeding, gastric varices, and gastric antral ectasia. The role of en
doscopic mucosal resection as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool is dis
cussed, Also covered is the literature concerning percutaneous endosco
pic gastrostomy, particularly relating to patient outcome after the pr
ocedure. Finally, there is a brief review of the literature regarding
the current and possible future clinical uses of endoscopic ultrasonog
raphy.
