Abstract
Spiroepoxy naphthalenones, obtained from the stereoselcctive oxidation of 2-hydroxyalkyl-1-naphthols with sodium periodate, were converted t o naphthalene-1,2-oxides by reaction with methyllithium followed by Pa yne rearrangement.
