Wc. Fok et As. Tooth, A PROCEDURE FOR EQUATION FITTING OF COMPUTER-GENERATED DESIGN-DATA, Journal of strain analysis for engineering design, 32(5), 1997, pp. 365-373
A procedure is developed to enable the data obtained from an exhaustiv
e computer exercise, using finite elements, to be presented in the for
m of best fitted equations for use in Design Standards. Although the e
xample chosen is directed towards the analysis of a horizontal hot oil
storage vessel, the method developed can be used to obtain a best fit
ted equation for any set of generated or measured data. The resulting
parametric equations can, thereafter, be used manually or, alternative
ly, programmed for a personal computer.
