Abstract
This Letter presents spin temperatures of neutral atomic hydrogen clou ds in the vicinity of 30 Doradus in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). Using emission and absorption spectra obtained by combining the Austra lia Telescope Compact Array and the Parkes Telescope, we have minimize d errors due to beam blending. We have developed a new technique to di sentangle blending of emission components in the velocity domain. The results show much cooler temperatures for the diffuse interstellar clo uds than obtained with other techniques: typical values are 30-40 K. W hether or not H I clouds in the LMC are actually cooler than the ones in our Galaxy or other galaxies cannot be concluded from the data curr ently available.
