A. Sakushima et al., STUDY OF SINAPINYL BUT-3-ENYLGLUCOSINOLATE (BOREAVAN-A) AND RELATED-COMPOUNDS BY MASS-SPECTROMETRY, Phytochemical analysis, 8(6), 1997, pp. 312-315
Electron impact (EI), positive and negative ion fast atom bombardment
(FAB) combined with tandem mass spectrometry was used for the structur
al elucidation of sinapinyl but-3-enylglucosinoiate (boreavan A), The
EI mass spectra showed the presence of ions due to the sinapic acid mo
iety, Protonated and deprotonated quasimolecules and some structurally
significant fragment ions due to sulphate were observed in the FAB ma
ss spectra, The tandem mass spectra gave information for the identific
ation of the main building blocks and the sequence ions of the sinapin
ium cation in boreavan A, and also showed that the number of side chai
ns present in the glucosinolate moiety has a potential influence on th
e location of the anion part of boreavan A. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons
