Ss. Manna et D. Giri, SANDPILE MODEL WITH ACTIVITY INHIBITION, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 56(5), 1997, pp. 4914-4917
A sandpile model is studied in which bonds of the system are inhibited
for activity after a certain number of transmission of grains. This c
ondition impels an unstable sand column to distribute grains only to t
hose neighbors that have toppled less than m times. In this non-Abelia
n model grains effectively move faster than the ordinary diffusion (su
perdiffusion). A system size dependent crossover from Abelian sandpile
behavior to a new critical behavior is observed for all values of the
parameter m.
