In this paper, we perform a careful analysis of the renormalization pr
ocedure used in existing calculations to derive critical exponents for
the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation at two-loop order. This analysis exp
lains the discrepancies between the results of the different groups. T
he correct critical exponents in d=2+epsilon dimensions at the crossov
er between the weak-and strong-coupling regime are chi=O(epsilon(3)) a
nd z=2+O(epsilon(3)). No strong-coupling fixed point exists at two-loo
p order.
