Abstract
The traceback success rate of an electronic feedlot to slaughter infor mation system was evaluated using 4186 yearling cattle from three Albe rta feedlots. Each animal was identified with an external Allflex elec tronic identification (EID) eartag before the end of the feeding perio d. The EID number was scanned with stationary Allflex TIRIS readers at the abattoir and electronically linked to its carcass data, The trace back success rate was 39.8% from abattoir to feedlot and 46.4% from ab attoir to herd of origin.
