Abstract
In high-volume production of multiport devices such as taps, splitters , and the trunk, bridge, or distribution amplifiers used in cable-tele vision (CATV) systems, optimization of throughput is critical for prof itability. However, in typical test environments, the ports of these d evices must be connected and reconnected in order to test all of their signal paths with a two-port network analyzer. In addition, network-a nalyzer calibration must be performed approximately once per shift, wh ich consumes approximately 20 h each month, Fortunately, the HP 87075C multiport test-set system from Hewlett-Packard's Microwave Instrument s Division (Santa Rosa, CA) removes these roadblocks by eliminating th e need to reconnect devices to make all signal-path measurements, and by reducing calibration time to only about 1 h per month.
