Eight new myxosporidian species of the genus Henneguya are described f
rom marines fishes of Senegal (West Africa). H. brachydeuteri sp. nov.
lives in the heart of Brachydeuterus auritus. Its ultrastructural fea
tures comply in general with features known in this genus. H. joalensi
s sp. nov. infects the kidney of Cephalopholis taeniops. H. kayarensis
sp. nov. infects the liver of Galeoides decadactylus. H. lutjani sp.
nov. parasitizes the gill lamellae of Lutjanus agennes. H. mbourensis
sp. nov. infects the kidney of Dentex canariensis. H. ouakamensis sp.
nov. parasitizes the gill lamellae and the heart of Mugil cephalus. H.
priacanthi is found in the gill lamellae of Priacanthus arenatus and
H. yoffensis sp. nov. is a parasite of the gill and heart of Sparus ca
eruleostictus.
