A change in the physical state of diphenyl(dibutylcarbamoylmethyl)phos
phine oxide (D phi DBCMPO) upon contact with an acidic solution is des
cribed and the composition of the complex formed by the reagent and th
e acid is established. The quantitative characteristics of the extract
ion capacity of this complex are found using praseodymium as an exampl
e, and the advantages of using 100% D phi DBCMPO are shown.
