Abstract
A 1,2,9,9a-tetrahydrocycloprop [c]benz[e]indol-4-one, CBI precursor, r acemic 3 was resolved by Lipase PS catalyzed hydrolysis in water-satur ated isopropyl ether. A practical route for the synthesis of optically active CBI, a potent analog of the CC-1065 pharmacophore, starting fr om the resolved material was thereby developed.
