Kr. Ashley et al., SORPTION BEHAVIOR OF PERTECHNETATE ON REILLEXTM-HPQ ANION-EXCHANGE RESIN FROM NITRIC-ACID SOLUTION, Solvent extraction and ion exchange, 12(2), 1994, pp. 239-259
The distribution coefficients are reported for (TcO4-)-Tc-99 on the ni
trate form of Reillex(TM)-HPQ anion exchange resin. The nitric acid co
ncentration was varied from 10.0 M to 9.80 x 10(-4) M at 20-degrees-C
with a nominal pertechnetate loading of <0.03 mole % resin. Equilibriu
m was attained in 30 minutes or less. K(d)' is defined as: [GRAPHICS]
The values at 10.0, 5.00, and 1.00 M HNO3 are 11.5, 55.7, and 415 ml/g
dry resin, respectively. The corresponding values reported for Dowex(
TM)-1 x 8 are 4.98, 15.4, and 135 ml/g dry resin, respectively. Reille
x(TM)-HPQ is superior for TcO4- separation under these conditions. The
detailed behavior of the system can be best described by assuming tha
t the acid, HTcO4, is formed with a derived acid dissociation constant
(K(a)) of 4.02 M.
