Light-induced persistent changes in magnetization of n-type Cd1-xMnxTe
(0.01 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.20) single crys
tals have been measured at T=2 and 5 K and in magnetic fields of up 0.
5 T. The effect observed correlates with an increase (upon illuminatio
n) in shallow donor concentration measured on the same samples. It als
o saturates with increasing magnetic field. The bound magnetic polaron
theory accounts for the variation of the excess persistent magnetizat
ion with temperature and magnetic-field strength if the antiferromagne
tic exchange coupling between magnetic ions is included.
