Abstract
Three new steroidal alkaloids, named sarcovagenine A-C,were isolated f rom roots of Sarcococca vagans. Their structures were established on t he basis of spectral evidence and biogenetic considerations as (20S)-2 0-(dimethylamino)-3 beta-(tigloylamino)-5 alpha-16-en-2 beta,4 beta-di ol, (20S)-4 beta-acetoxy-20-(dimethylamino)-3 beta-(tigloylamino)-5 al pha-pregn-16-en-2 alpha-ol, and (20S)-20-(dimethylamino)-3-(tigloylami no)-5 alpha-pregn-2,16-dien-4-one, respectively.
