Abstract
A two-stage erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) with extremely flat ga in (+/-0.1 dB) over 17-nm bandwidth is demonstrated, The gain flatness is achieved by incorporating samarium-doped fiber in the mid section of the amplifier.
