Abstract
Room-temperature (RT) spectral-hole burning (SHB) in erbium-doped sili ca and fluoride fibers is investigated and compared, SHB in fluoride f iber is less strong than in silica fiber and the hole widths are much Hider indicating less inhomogeneity.
