Two lamellar (L1, L2) and one hexagonal (H) vanadium oxide-dodecylamin
e mesophases have been prepared and characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM, T
EM, and NMR spectroscopy. The local environment of vanadium species wa
s found to be controlled mainly by the synthesis temperature regardles
s of the nature of the mesophase. It was proposed that the structure o
f the final phase is governed by the acidity of the vanadium centers,
and thus by the strength of the interactions between these centers and
dodecylamine.
