Abstract
The environmental health major at Oakland University provides a flexib le setting in which, students can acquire a strong science-based techn ical background along with critical thinking skills. The major include s classes from several traditional major departments along with advanc ed interdisciplinary courses. The courses described in this article an d the general design of the environmental health major may be of inter est to other institutions considering a chemistry-based environmental curriculum. The environmental health program with the toxic substance control option is an educational experience unique to Oakland Universi ty.
