Abstract
A field trial was conducted during rainy (kharif) season 1991 and 1992 to study the performance of scented, dwarf rice (Oryza sativa L.) var ieties under different time of transplanting. Pooled analysis of grain yield revealed that rice grain yield decreased significantly with eac h delay in transplanting from 25 June to 5 August. However, the yield reduction was drastic after 15 July. The magnitude of decline in grain yield was 12.5% from 25 June to 15 July, whereas the reduction was 38 .3% from 15 July to 5 August. The yield attributes, viz. panicles/m(2) , grains/panicle and panicle weight, also reduced with the late transp lanting.
