Abstract
An experiment was conducted during 1993-94 and 1994-95 to evaluate the effect of number and age of seedling of rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultiv ars on lowland of Bihar plateau. There was no significant variation in yield between rice cultivars 'Pankaj' and 'Patnai'. Seedling of 40 da ys age gave significantly maximum grain yield (47.39 q/ha) than seedli ngs of other ages, and 4 seedlings/hill recorded the highest yield pot ential (42.16 q/ha). Number of seeds/hill followed the same trend as t hat of grain yield. Maximum net return (Rs, 9,718.95) was obtained whe n rice was transplanted 40 days after solving.
