Abstract
A field experiment conducted at Hisar during spring season of 1992 and 1993 showed that application of farmyard manure (FYM) @ 5 and 10 tonn es/ha significantly increased the growth, yield attributes and yield o f sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) over no FYM and Azotobacter inocula tion. There was 10.0 and 16.0% yield increase with 5 and 10 tonnes/ha of FYM respectively over no FYM. Increasing levels of N and P signific antly increased plant height, yield attributes and seed yield up to 80 kg N and 40 kg P2O5/ha and leaf area, dry matter and stalk yield up t o 120 kg N and 60 kg P(2)O5/ha. Increase in seed yield over the contro l was 36.7 and 58.7% with 40 and 20 kg and 80 and 40 kg N and P2O5/ha respectively. Application of 40 kg N and 20 kg P2O5/ha in combination with 10 tonnes FYM/ha gave seed yield at par with 80 kg N and 40 kg P2 O5/ha. The optimum doses of N and P were also worked out.
