A number of insertion products, viz., Me2Al(mu-i-Pr2N)(2)Mg[(t-Bu)NC(C
H3)S] (1), Me2Al(mu-i-Pr2N)(2)Mg[(Ph)NC(CH3)S)] (2), Me2Al((mu-Et2N)(2
)Mg[(t-Bu)NC(CH3)S] (3), Me2Al(mu-Et2N)(2)Mg[(Ph)NC(CH3)S] (4), {Me2Al
(mu-Et2N)(2)Mg[(Ph)NC(CH3)O]}(2) (5), and Me2Al(mu-i-Pr2N)(2)Mg[SC(CH3
)S] (6) have been synthesized using polynuclear aluminum-magnesium com
pounds and various heteroannulenes such as isothiocyanates, isocyanate
s, and carbon disulfide. All the new compounds were characterized by H
-1 and C-13 NMR, LR, and elemental analysis. The structures of two of
the above compounds, 1 and 5, have been determined by single-crystal X
-ray diffraction technique.
