Abstract
Statistical estimation of the quality of lidar wind velocity measureme nts by the correlation method and the results of their application to the study of local and regional climates as well as to the reconstruct ion and ultrashort-range prediction (for forecasting periods less than or equal to 12 h) of mean zonal and meridional wind velocity componen ts are presented. Wind velocity measurents with a three-path correlati on lidar can be used successfully for climatic-ecological monitoring o f local territories. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
