R. Gupta et al., MIGRATION OF SOLID PARTICLES IN THE HETEROGENEOUS SLURRY FLOW-THROUGHA 90-DEGREES BEND, INDIAN JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND MATERIALS SCIENCES, 4(1), 1997, pp. 10-20
Overall concentration profiles and particle size distribution have bee
n measured inside a 90 degrees bend along four diameterical planes ove
r a range of concentrations and velocities. The results illustrate the
phenomena of redistribution of particles of various size fractions. T
he migration of larger size fractions towards the outer wall may be on
e of the causes of the excessive wear in bends between 0-90 degrees on
the outer surface. The phenomenon is dependent on the operating veloc
ity, concentration and particle size distribution.
