Elastic and Compton scattering cross sections for platinum have been m
easured at incident photon energies 23.10, 24.14, 25.20, 26.27, 32.06
and 35.86 keV. Experimental elastic scattering cross sections are comp
ared with theoretical estimates based on form factor formalisms. Form
factor values are deduced using the experimental elastic scattering cr
oss sections. Experimental form factors are corrected by including the
real and imaginary components of the dispersion corrections, in order
to assess the dispersion effects and reflect the data on the current
knowledge. Experimental inelastic scattering cross sections are higher
than the theoretical values. To check the reliability of the non-rela
tivistic incoherent scattering function further investigations are nec
essary in the low energy region.
