Y. Thomann et al., TEMPERATURE RISING ELUTION FRACTIONATION OF A RANDOM ETHENE STYRENE COPOLYMER/, Macromolecular chemistry and physics, 198(3), 1997, pp. 739-748
A random ethene/styrene copolymer containing 13.8 mol-% styrene was pr
epared with the Ziegler-Natta catalyst system Me(2)Si(Me(4)Cp)(N-t-but
yl)TiCl2/methylaluminoxane and characterized by means of preparative t
emperature rising elution fractionation (TREF) combined with size excl
usion chromatography, NMR, differential scanning calorimetry and wide-
angle X-ray scattering analyses of the copolymer fractions. Efforts ar
e made to describe the distribution of the styrene content of the copo
lymers using the Stockmayer-Tacx distribution function. Both, comonome
r distribution and molar mass distribution strongly support the presen
ce of a single type of catalytically active center.
