Abstract
Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) is the basis for mos t biliary interventional procedures. We recently observed the occurren ce of a subcutaneous implantation metastasis after PTBD in a patient w ith incurable cholangiocarcinoma. Although tumor cell seeding along th e catheter tract is a very rare complication, we think that PTBD shoul d be avoided when curative resection is planned.
