Abstract
The application of the roller press for semi-finish grinding has set n ew demands on the separation system as desagglomeration of roller pres s flakes, sufficient wear resistance for handling the abrasive materia l from the roller press, closed circuit operation for both roller pres s and ball mill for semi-finish grinding, and in the case of roller pr ess finish grinding the ability to work with high circulation factors with low power consumption. To meet these new requirements, FLS has de veloped a new separator based on the concept of 2-stage separation. A 2-stage separator can reduce the total specific energy consumption and the capital cost for the separator system, compared to a conventional separator system, and provide good wear resistance while maintaining the advantages of high-efficiency separation for both roller press and ball mill circuit. The use of a 2-stage high-efficiency separator res ults in better overall performance of the grinding. Furthermore, an ad justment of the particle size distribution can be carried out for the semi-finish system which means that the required low water demand for normal consistency for the cement paste can be obtained Finally the pr ice for the machinery is lower for the semi-finish grinding system whe n using the 2-stage high-efficiency separator.
