Abstract
This paper presents a new iterative finite-element ballooning techniqu e to solve Poisson's equation for different numbers of ballooning laye rs to set different boundaries of the ionized field around the transmi ssion-line coronating conductor. This is aimed at explaining how the a ccuracy of calculation increases with the increase of the number of ba llooning layers. A laboratory model was built to check the accuracy of the calculated corona current and the ground plane current density. ( C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
