Ga. Askaryan et Av. Yurkin, CHANNELS IN ROTATING LIQUIDS FOR CONDUCTING DISCHARGES, TRANSPORTING CURRENTS AND PARTICLE AND RADIATION FLUXES, AND LOWERING BREAKDOWN THRESHOLDS, JETP letters, 65(3), 1997, pp. 308-312
The formation of gas channels in rotating liquids is investigated and
the application of such channels as capillaries for high-power dischar
ges in x-ray lasers, for transporting particle and radiation fluxes, a
nd lowering breakdown thresholds (including with the use of metal fill
ings), for structural systems for microwave generation and particle ac
celeration, and for photochemical and shock action on a liquid, and so
on, is discussed. It is noted that tubular active elements and sample
s can be fabricated by solidification and crystallization during rotat
ion. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
