M. Gehre et al., METHODICAL STUDIES FOR D H-ISOTOPE ANALYSIS - A NEW TECHNIQUE FOR THEDIRECT COUPLING OF SAMPLE PREPARATION TO AN IRMS/, Isotopes in environmental and health studies, 32(4), 1996, pp. 335-340
A new technique for the sample preparation and direct coupling to an I
sotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS) for the D/H-determination is des
cribed. 1 mu l size samples of water are injected and reduced with chr
omium metal in a novel reaction furnace. The hydrogen gas flows direct
ly into the IRMS and is analysed (standard/sample comparison). The rep
roducibility is about 1 parts per thousand. The accuracy of the techni
que was proven by means of the IAEA-standard waters V-SMOW, GISP, SLAP
.
