Abstract
Advances in nursing practice, less invasive surgical procedures, and u p-to-date anesthesia techniques have resulted in earlier discharge for patients after surgery. Streamlining perioperative preparation proces ses allows pediatric nurses to meet this challenge posed by the curren t health care environment. The goal of concise, comprehensive perioper ative preparation and practice is to provide patient and family satisf action through preparation for early patient discharge; avoidance of d uplicate information; and high-quality, efficient, family-centered car e.
