Abstract
This paper deals with qualitative modeling and simulation of continuou s-time systems based on Petri nets. Qualitative simulation faces an in trinsic problem of scale. As the number of variables increases, the nu mber of possible qualitative behaviors may grow exponentially in the w orst case. We extend conventional Petri net and propose a method for q ualitative simulation with time and quantity, and show that the propos ed method can predict system behaviors precisely.
