A citrus cDNA encoding a class II acidic chitinase was isolated from a
nonembryogenic cell line of sweet orange using the tobacco cDNA clone
PROB3. Northern blot analysis revealed that the corresponding mRNA is
expressed in young, green bark but not in leaves, roots, or flavedo.
